Dear Steve and Bill and everyone at Bass and Royster; Every time we open the door to our new home we are pleased and delighted to be "home". We love our wonderful home in the mountains. This was to be a second home and with the idea of living in Florida most of the time, we did not want to build "long distance". With Kathy having been a Realtor for 20 years, we had heard the horror stories about building long distance and we wanted no part of it! So we looked at MANY resales and then a friend took us up to the top of Hamburg mountain. We fell in love! Since we wanted a home with a view up high in the mountains we were picky about where we wanted to be. We knew we had found the spot and that we would have to build to have this view. Now the task was to find the right builder. After interviewing 6 on the phone and 3 in person, we had narrowed it down to 2 builders. Steve Royster, after having met us out on the property, began faxing us drawings of where the house should be placed on the lot and what kind of "challenges" we might have with a foundation on the side of the mountain. He called several times - even before he knew he got the job. We were impressed with Bass and Royster because they seemed to be a big enough company that there would always be someone on the job and yet small enough so that we would not get lost in the foray of many customers. All of the staff we met were friendly and helpful and seemed eager to work with us - knowing it would be a bit more difficult since we would not be close by. Along the way, we met many of B & R's sub contractors and were equally impressed with each of them. They all took the time to listen and suggest and give advice as this was the first home we had ever built. Mike Dicus, our supervisor, kept us informed along the way and communicated regularly as to questions he had and progress that had been made. Chris in the office guided us through the hundreds of interior decisions that needed to be made from light fixtures and where they went, to paint colors to window sizes and more. We never felt "out of the loop" even thought we were 500 miles away. We saw the home in progress only a few times but when it was completed, the punch list was not that long! We were very excited. We truly recommend Bass & Royster as a quality home builder. Their prices are competitive, their work ethics are commendable and their helpful, cheerful attitude is the best. Thanks Bass & Royster for our lovely home in the mountains! Sincerely, Mike and Kathy Lightcap
Greetings, I wanted to express my deepest gratitude for the fine work that Bass and Royster completed on a studio at 209 Avondale Rd. After remodeling 5 houses in Asheville, I have finally found a group of the finest Craftsmen around. The attention to detail was incredible, and the carpenters were so creative in every suggestion they made. I would especially like to thank Rod for overseeing the project, and to the carpenters whose years of experience helped to create a beautiful finished studio. This is the second project that Bass and Royster has completed for me, and I am amazed how smoothly and efficiently each project has been completed. If you ever need the highest of recommendations, please do not hesitate to share my phone number. I will send pictures as soon as they are developed. Ocne again, thank you so much for your fine company, and all of it's many talented workers. Sincerely, Caty Carlin
Dear Bill and Steve: Frank and I want to thank you so very much for the wonderful experience you have given us in building our new home. Bass and Royster, Inc. has added to the entire process and we finished one of the biggest projects in our lives with very fond memories and friendships. There are so many things to mention and this is simply an attempt at highlighting. From our initial meeting with you, to the hassle-free closing and your continued follow-up, we have felt your shared interest and enthusiasm. Ron Wildes supervised construction consistently and with such a positive approach. His attention to detail, problem solving (and we did have some challenges with design), quality control, and attitude were obvious to us and certainly contagious from the the most complex to the simplest task for everyone on the jobsite. Numerous subcontractors spoke of how pleasant it was to be working at this site and with Bass & Royster. Our landscapers have voiced that they truly looked forward to coming to #6 Cedar Chine and working with Ron Wildes and company. The constructive collaborative efforts of everyone were obvious. Our construction was detailed and labor intensive because of detailed building plans, and Frank and I feel very strongly that you have been good stewards of our finances. You have advocated for us, have been trouble-shooters for us, and have shared with us. We have always felt that you have included us on all levels. It is hard to express in words how grateful we are to have experienced this project with you. There are so many hands and minds that worked on our house, so much time and energy, and we feel very blessed. The house you built is now our home and we thank you. How fortunate for us and WNC to have you in Asheville! Most sincerely, Kitty Moretz
Dear Ron, Steve and Bill, It seems incredible that we were beginning the building of my house at this time last year. I have now lived in the house for a few months and I am daily thankful for all of you. It is a wonderful home and I often reflect on the enjoyment of building it with you. For me, building a house was a long time dream. The house exceeds expectations in its craftsmanship, comfort, and beauty. It seems unheard of, in this day and time, to complete the house on time and on budget. I was continually impressed by the subcontractors you were able to attract. Each of them were reliable, took pride in their work, and were most pleasant to be around. Your having such a fine group of people speaks highly of your relationships and reputation. The building process was a great deal of fun. I contribute this entirely to Ron Wildes who was the best supervisor imaginable. First of all, Ron worked to communicate with me. We spoke almost daily whether it was a simple progress report or questions to be addressed. I appreciated that I could ask Ron anything and he would take the time to explain, consider, and jointly reach a conclusion. No question was silly, no idea was dismissed. During the months of building, it was always good to talk to Ron. Ron instilled confidence and worked as hard or harder than anyone on the job. Ron is organized and stayed a step ahead of everyone else which is the reason the house was completed in the time table established. I never expected to have fun in the building process and the fact that it was enjoyable makes my home all the more special. Thank you, thank you for making my dream come true. Thank you for outstandingly fine workmanship which is verified by never having to call you with a problem since I moved in. Thank you for making the whole process enjoyable from beginning to end. I would build a house again, without hesitation, but it would have to be Bass and Royster with Ron Wildes supervising. I will always be grateful for having Bill Bass, Steve Royster and Ron Wildes to be the builders of my beautiful new home. Yours truly, Elizabeth Lancaster
Dear Bill, It's a pleasure to work with an organization whose employees have what we consider key values: quality of work and responsiveness to customer needs and inquiries. We have none of the horror stories which most new home owners tell about their experience. Joe and I recommend Bass and Royster whenever we have the opportunity. Sincerely yours, Paula O'Hara
